Today in …

2006 – The Dodgers stage an incredible comeback with five homers in the ninth and 10th innings, including four in a row, to defeat the Padres 11-10 in Los Angeles. San Diego scored three runs in the ninth for a 9-5 lead, but Jeff Kent and J.D. Drew start the LA ninthy with back-to-back homers off Jon Adkins. Trevor Hoffman relieves Adkins and his first two pitches result in home runs. A traffic jam develops in the parking lot, as many of those who have left early scramble to get back into the ballpark. Padres score in the 10th, but Dodger heroics aren't over. Rudy Seanz relieves Hoffman and issues a walk to Kenny Lofton. Nomar Garciaparra smacks a two-run homer for the Dodger victory.
