Editor: It was with confusion and irritation that I read the "coverage" of the primary elections in Thursdays Register, May 10. I must applaud you in setting a new standard in unbalanced coverage of local political candidates. On the front page of Thursday's paper you list the entire Republican ticket, listing every winner of every race, even those that ran unopposed. However, you chose not to list every Democrat that won. For example Alan Miller candidate for Judge and Rudy Howard candidate for Clerk of Courts. You found space and time to included a picture of a Republican candidate in your "coverage," yet did not see fit to name all the Democrats that will be in November election. As the main source of information for many in our community, you have a responsibility to report the elections, not impact outcomes through slanted and distorted reporting. It was Thomas Jefferson that stated the "press is the best instrument for enlightening the mind of man, and improving him as a rational, moral, and social being." And Lincoln who said "Let the people know the facts, and the country will be safe." If you truly respect your role in our community and the democracy we live in, you must print the Democratic party's entire ticket naming every candidate with the same front page reporting you afforded the Republicans. I know you will do the right thing.
