Early registration deadline for the 2012 Southeastern Indiana Racing Circuit (SIRC-it) series is Monday, July 9.

The SIRC-it is a series of five five-kilometer (3.1-mile) road races, for runners and walkers, in five different locations on five consecutive Saturday mornings in July and August.

Official timer Stuart Road Racing will utilize electronic chip timing for all five events for the first time this summer.

Originated as a fund-raiser for area high school cross country teams, the 2012 series kicks off Saturday, July 14, at 8:30 a.m. with East Central's Trojan Trot 5K Run/Walk at St. Leon American Legion Post 464.

SIRC-it racing continues July 21 with Brookville's Lakeside 5K at Franklin County High School.

Milan's 5K Indian Run/Walk, an original member of the series, rejoins the SIRC-it Saturday, July 28, replacing Rising Sun's Beast of the Southeast cross country race.

South Dearborn's 10th annual Knight Flight 5K Run/Walk, starting and finishing in front of series sponsor Weber Sports, 238 Main St., downtown Aurora, follows Saturday, Aug. 4.

Batesville's 12th annual Bulldog Chase 5K completes the SIRC-it series Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Batesville Middle School.

Runners and walkers who participate in at least four of the five races will have their names entered in a giveaway drawing for cash prizes following the Bulldog Chase. Those who complete all five races will have their names entered twice.
